The objectives of the Urban Streams Restoration Program are to assist
communities in reducing damages from stream bank and watershed instability
and floods while restoring the environmental and aesthetic values of streams,
and to encourage stewardship and maintenance of streams by the community.

The USRP provides grants for a variety of activities, including the following: creek cleanups,
eradication of exotic or invasive plants; revegetation efforts; bioengineering
bank stabilization projects; channel reconfiguration to improve stream
geomorphology and aquatic habitat functions; acquisition of parcels
critical for flood management; and coordination of community involvement in projects.

With voter approval of Proposition 84, the Urban
Streams Restoration Program will have available grant fundng.
Proposition 84 includes $18 million for the Urban Streams Restoration
Program. DWR anticipates holding the first of two application cycles in early 2008. Please check this website periodically
for updates.
